Your author website is the one place on the internet you fully control. Retailer pages and social profiles change, but a website you own can introduce you, showcase your books, collect email subscribers and sell directly to readers.

BzLogics designs and builds author websites on WordPress for self-published authors, small presses and first-time writers. We focus on three jobs: telling visitors who you are and what you write, making it obvious how to buy or follow you, and giving search engines clear signals so new readers can find you.

What an author website includes

  • A home page that leads with your latest book and a clear next step
  • Book pages with the cover, blurb, quotes you have permission to use and links to retailers
  • An About page and author bio written for readers
  • Newsletter sign-up connected to Mailchimp or your preferred email tool
  • A blog or news section for updates and search-friendly articles
  • A media page with your bio, headshot and cover downloads
  • Events and contact pages with an enquiry form
  • An optional online store for signed copies, ebooks and merchandise

Built on WordPress, easy to manage

We build on WordPress with Elementor, so you can update pages, add new books and publish news without paying for every small change. We keep the plugin list lean, optimise images and set up caching so pages load quickly, and we design mobile-first because many readers browse on their phones.

Accessibility matters too. We use readable type, strong colour contrast and clear navigation so more of your readers can use the site comfortably.

Search optimisation from the start

Good structure helps readers and search engines. Each site is set up with descriptive page titles and meta descriptions, clean URLs, an XML sitemap, fast-loading images and structured data for your books and author profile where it matches what is shown on the page. We also connect Google Analytics and Google Search Console so you can see how readers find you. If you want ongoing work, see our Book SEO service.

Sell books from your own website

Selling directly lets you keep the customer relationship, collect email addresses and offer things retailers cannot, such as signed copies or bundles. We can add a WooCommerce store for signed copies, ebooks and merchandise. If you publish with Lulu, we can also connect orders to print-on-demand fulfilment, as described on our Lulu set-up page. You can sell on your own site and through retailers at the same time.

How we build your author website

  1. Discovery: we learn about your books, readers and goals, and review sites you like.
  2. Structure and design: we agree the page structure and design direction, using your cover and brand colours.
  3. Build: we build the site, add your content and set up forms, newsletter sign-up and tracking.
  4. Review and launch: you review the site on desktop and mobile, we make the agreed changes, then publish.
  5. Handover: we show you how to edit your site and hand over access.

Author website FAQs

How long does an author website take?

It depends mainly on the size of the site and how quickly content and feedback arrive. A simple site is quicker than one with a store and several books. We confirm a schedule in your quote.

Can I edit the website myself?

Yes. WordPress and Elementor let you edit text, images and pages without coding, and we show you how at handover.

I already have a website. Can you redesign it?

Yes. We can move your existing content, keep your page addresses wherever possible and set up redirects where they change, so you do not lose the search visibility you have built.

Do I need my own domain name and hosting?

We recommend using your own domain, such as yourname.com, so your address stays with you. We can advise on reliable hosting and set it up in your name.

Can I sell books on my site and on Amazon or Lulu?

Yes. Selling in more than one place is common. We can link to your retailer pages and add your own store if you want one.
