If you built your site on Wix and need help from a designer or developer, you do not have to share your login. Wix lets you invite people to your site and decide what they can do. The exact menu labels may change, so look for the roles and permissions settings in your Wix dashboard.
How to invite someone
- Open your Wix dashboard and find the settings for roles and permissions.
- Choose to invite people to the site.
- Enter their email address and select a role.
- They accept the invitation by email and sign in with their own account.
Pick the right role
Choose the role with only the permissions needed for the job. Design and content work does not require access to billing, domains or the account owner role. Keep the owner role for yourself.
Protect your Wix account
- Turn on two-factor authentication.
- Use a strong password that you do not reuse elsewhere.
- Be careful with emails that claim your site or domain is at risk. Log in directly to check.
Domains and payments
Your domain registration and payment provider are separate accounts. Do not share their logins. If a developer needs to change DNS settings, ask whether they can guide you through it or use delegated access.
Remove access when the project ends
Remove the collaborator from your site once the work is complete, and review the list of people with access every few months.
Thinking of moving off Wix?
If your site has outgrown Wix, we can help you plan a safe move, including redirects. See our migration and redesign service and our safe access guide.
